Amarna Nutrition & Wellness's ICARE program is a 501(c)3 and 509(a)2 non-profit public charity organization that focuses on health education for disenfranchised communities of San Antonio and neighborhoods nationwide. Our goal is to ensure health education is not only available at low to no cost but that it is understandable and effective to make changes.
Program Courses
We offer the following services at discounted rates for recipients of WIC/ FoodStamps/Medicaid. Verification of benefits is required to take part in this program. You will receive an ID# to utilize at checkout, this will serve as your coupon code at checkout once the application/verification is complete.
CDC-recognized lifestyle change program! You’ll get a full year of support and learn how to eat healthy, add physical activity to your routine, manage stress, stay motivated, and solve problems that can get in the way of your goals. This program is proven to prevent or delay type 2 diabetes. Participants who lost 5-7% of their body weight and added 150 minutes of exercise per week cut their risk of developing type 2 diabetes by up to 58% (71% for people over 60 years old). FREE
Nutrition 101 is designed for anyone interested in knowing more about nutrition and looking for ways to change eating patterns and lifestyle habits. This course gives you a thorough foundation in basic nutrition so you can understand and implement healthy eating patterns and choices. You'll also learn about meal planning, shopping tips, safe food preparation, dealing with food allergies and intolerances, and how to promote healthy food choices in your family, community, or workplace.FREE
The American Heart Association's Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED Course is designed for anyone with little or no medical training who needs a course completion card for their job, regulatory (e.g., OSHA), or other requirements, or anyone who wants to be prepared for an emergency in any setting. The AHA’s Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED course trains participants to provide first aid, CPR, and use an automated external defibrillator (AED) in a safe, timely, and effective manner.
